In my never ending quest for useless knowledge, I tried an experiment tonight. I wanted to see how difficult it was to destroy a chip in order to shed some possible light on how casinos go about doing this chore. Here's what I did. I took 6 $100 worthless chips & did the following;
1. I took a hammer & tried to smash one on the concrete sidewalk. I now have 3 $33 1/3 chips.
2. I poured chlorine on one along with some muriatic acid. Nada, nothing, zilch! Hardly any difference. I did manage to ruin a fairly good pair of jeans though!
3. I ran my SUV over one of them & it's now a fixture in my driveway!
4. I put one on the Bar-B-Q after cooking my meal. A few burns, some warping, but I can still make out what the chips is.
5. I smeared the chip with some dog food & fed it to the neighbors dog. I won't know the results of this ploy until sometime tomorrow. I hate that dog & I'm not too fond of the owner.
6. The last one is now going through the final stages of being nuked in the microwave for an hour. It has smelled up the entire house & my wife has threatened to cut off my allowance. She always makes those threats during football season!
Can any of you Vegas insiders tell me how a rack of chips are destroyed? I'm sure that they use more sophisticated methods than the ones I tried.
