"QUOTATION MARKS" and punctuation.

1. The comma and the period are ALWAYS enclosed by
quotation marks.

2. The colon and semicolon are NEVER enclosed within
quotaion marks.

3. The hyphen, question mark and exclamation mark
are enclosed within quotation marks if they apply to
the quoted material, and they are placed after the
quotation marks ONLY if they apply to the whole
sentense. Example:

"Is this still Las Vegas?" Gene asked.
Did Gene say, "Is this still Las Vegas"?

My question: Where does this silly little <g> go...
within or outside of a sentense (wnen used at the end of a completed sentense)?
