What to call the next decade ...

... was raised in a column by Marilyn Vos Savant awhile back. Most of the suggestions were pretty boring. Among the most popular answers was "the first decade of the century".

I suggested the "2K0's" (pronounced "two kay ohs"), which I think has a high-tech, catchy sound to it. Also has the virtue of familiarity from the terms Y2K and KO (as in knockout, though the O there is for "O" while the 0 in 2K0's is for zero).

Bet you can't guess what I'm going to call the decade, no matter what everyone else does! <g>

BTW, some people called 1900-1909 the "aughts", though that might be a little old fashioned for today's young folks.

I expect the "teens" will be called exactly that, just as they were in the 1900's. ----- jim o\-S
