POSSIBLE DISCOVERY ON EBAY?

Ebay Lot N°221766968 is described as being found
with paper material from Orient Line's SS Orford.
The chip seen with the description is more commonly
known and lsted in Thomas B. Day's "Casino Tokens of
Monte-Carlo" as 3a; 5 French francs, and being from
the Sporting Club in Monaco. The chip's obverse
(not noted in the sellers description) has an ornate
SC [Sporting Club] on the silver filigree overlay.
The seller also notes there is a small fish under
the numeral five on the reverse. This type of
manufacture was known to be in production from 1925
through 1930. Author Day notes that these Sporting
Club chips are known with and without the
counterstamp fish. We never knew why! Possibly, we
know now. This chip normally lists for between $10 and $20. It has thus far been bid up to $55.

I informed the seller. His response: Thanks much
for the info. Gus

The chip seen below is from the casino boat Club
Royale. Lost at sea in 1995.
