Seriously, the first chips I ever collected were the $1, $2.50 and $5 PMSC's from Harrah's in Reno, which I picked up during a blackjack trip there in February 1992. Also collected (well, "saved", really, at that point) chips from other Reno casinos during that visit and others during 1992-93.

As a result, I still have a special fondness for Reno area chips. And those from Tahoe and Carson City, as well, which we also visited during that time. Although no current chips were then or are now available in Virginia City, I really like that city and have since made a special effort to collect older chips from there (there aren't that many and nearly all remain reasonably priced -- collecting a "complete" set of known chips seems an obtainable goal).
