IF the de-icing liquids were anything close to being enviro-unfriendly, it wouldn't happen here. The tree huggers carry too much weight in Colorado. Dirt in a place that they didn't think it should be on Pikes Peak was enough of a reason for the Sierra Club to sue the City of Colorado Springs, and they won by concession. Gravel moving from the road to gulleys is polution (according to them). Dirt on a mountain moves downhill, and that can't happen! It is man's (improper) impact on nature (aren't we a part of nature?)! The road will be paved... ...guess who gets to pay for that?
