Re: Technical Question(s)...Please help me!

I had to read all the posts to make sure someone else hasn't mentioned the same thing. Here's another tip. If you use the "resize" command after cropping the chip image, you can make it 150 x ??? or 200 x ??? and it's going to be slightly larger than actual size. Yes, use JPG format because it uses compression. BMP files are about six times larger.

You have to consider that many web pages offer 5 MB of free space, you can get these for yourself, no charge, www.angelfire.com it verifies by email and has an online page editor and standard page formats, no HTML knowledge needed. FRE! Then all you do is upload your images there and link to them. Note the site is 5 MB, which means you could only get 8 images of 649,000 on there. I have about 50 JPGs on my angelfire site and have 4 MB free space. That should give you an idea how large your image is!

Best part is that scanners have come down in price, and all you guys getting to know them, will soon be sharing some dandy images here on the BB. Personally I use a Sony Mavica (old 640x480 MD-7) and I still have to reduce the size. The scanner will make a chip image as big as six computer screens. Not necessary and it takes forever to load when people read the message.

So simply put, reduce size to 200 x 200 and the file size will also be reduced. You don't have to do complicated adjustments. That means the chip image will be about 2 inches x 2 inches. Larger than life. lol

For example this image below is 578 x 357, look how big it is. It probably took 15 seconds to load on your computer. It's probably 35k not 600k, so you can see that file size is important for speed loading, but the photograph is just fine.

Have fun!
